AONE’s Institute for Patient Care Research and Education was launched in 1999, and is designed to promote patient care excellence through healthcare leadership, community health improvement, health policy achievements and recognition of members’ outstanding accomplishments for improving health and health care delivery.

The AONE Institute advances nurse executive practice through….
- Educational Awards to advance scholarship in formal education, short-term fellowships or specially designed courses
- Leadership Awards to recognize innovative and effective achievements toward improving healthcare delivery
- Peer Reviewed Awards for Affiliated Local Groups to recognize innovative programs and services
- Health Policy Awards to recognize policy achievements that improve health care delivery
Research and Special Projects
The Institute promotes and fosters research and special projects to benefit members in their work to provide patient care, advance the science of nurse executive practice and facilitate career and leadership development.
The Institute’s research and study reports include the 1999 Survey on Nursing Shortages and the 2000 Survey on Nurse Recruitment and Retention.
Development and Funding
The Institute continues to expand its fundraising program, which supports awards, scholarships and research seed grants. The Institute sponsors a silent auction at the AONE Annual Meetings, raising much- needed funds for Institute activities. As the Institute’s activities expand, member support and the support of the business community is more important than ever. We encourage you to support the Institute with a tax-deductible donation.

The AONE Institute for Patient Care Research & Education, a 501(c)(3) unit of the Health Research and Educational Trust, was launched in 1999 and was designed to support research and special projects that further AONE's mission and vision in the areas of nursing leadership, patient care excellence and health care policy. The Institute works to promote patient care excellence through recognition of leadership, community health improvement, and health policy achievements by providing funding for research and special projects that promote nursing leadership in health care delivery. Contributions made to the Institute are tax deductible - and more importantly, they are an investment in nursing's future.
There are several excellent opportunities for corporate sponsorship of the Institute: events at the AONE annual meeting, participation in our upcoming capital campaign, funding research projects, general donations, and so much more!
